It is common knowledge that our neighbors from across the pond trump in the regional fashion stakes, but they also make home to the most luxurious and captivating holiday destinations there is on offer.
The most notable of these for our summer getaways can range from the capital in Paris, all the way to the southern destination of Saint Tropez.
However, if you’re looking to get away from these bustling hot spots but still wish to remain in France, we have found some of the most beautiful rural towns in France that will make you fall in love with the country over and over again.
Saignon, or the village of the Luberon, is a small village perched on the top of a hill and behind a large rock which dominates the surrounding valley of Luberon.
Placed in mainland France, Saignon is a peaceful village which you can access by foot and explore its many ancient ruins, churches and vast green land.
Chilhac is a commune village in the central-southern region of France.
Even though it is still an unknown village for tourists, it provides some of the most eye-capturing hiking trails in France and it is only a 430 km trip away from Paris.
There are also some beautifully rustic bed and breakfasts to stay in during your stay in the village, and friendly locals too!
Also a southern French commune, Confolens is a rural town which has only grown with tourist popularity in the last five to ten years.
Some of the reasons for this would be of course, it’s aesthetically beautiful homes and buildings which are topped with charming terracotta tiled roofs, and of course the annual Festival De Confolens.
The Festival De Confolens is famous for its traditional array of dance and music acts, as well as vast rows of local produce available at their food stalls.
