Monday, June 21 brings Summer Solstice - and, as a nation, it’s safe to say, we're all looking forward to the new season and getting our wardrobes ready for what the hopefully, warmer and drier months have to offer.
But what will we all be wearing this summer?
Here’s our guide on what you need to dig out and get ready for the warmer months...
How are we going to style our stripes?
This summer is looking like a great season for our Breton shirts. Reports are in, suggesting that the mini-skirt will be ‘the skirt length of the summer’ - and what better to match your mini with than a classic striped shirt, like our T-shirt Vin Avec Poche, below.
Whether you’re going for relaxed denim, skater or fitted linen, nothing will add an air of sophistication like a Breton shirt.
Also on the radar for this summer is the ‘maximalist’ look; think clashing prints, loads of colour, an explosion of pattern and print.
So, if you’ve got a technicolour jacket or multi-layered skirt, just think how fabulous it would look with a striped shirt - either in a colour that clashes fantastically or one that tones your overall look down just a notch. Make sure you’re getting noticed for all the right reasons!
Accessorising your look this summer
Now that you know what you’ll be wearing this summer, how are you planning on accessorising your look?
Orange lips are hot for Summer 21 - not so much tangerine but a super-saturated bright shade in a semi-matte finish is the goal. Just think how refreshing this would look with a navy Breton - a gorgeous, citrusy twist on the red lip classic.
When it comes to accessories, chocolate gold is the new metallic look every stylist is reaching for. Rose has been and gone as has regular gold; it’s time for this sleek, modern take to have a moment and we can’t help thinking how gorgeous it would look, especially paired with our Picasso Rouge shirt.
If you’re not particularly concerned with this summer’s take on ‘what’s in’, why not have a think about investing in some classic updates to your wardrobe?
Nothing, for example, says ‘hello summer’ like a pair of espadrilles, and the ‘flatform’ version is a great take on the well-loved design. Kitten heel mules are also a classic that appear to be having a moment this summer; open toed, padded leather cross-over seems to be the ‘must-have’ style, so if you’ve a pair of these hiding in a shoe box, be sure to dig them out.
Nothing says summer like…
Of course, last but not least, nothing says ‘summer ready’ better than neatly manicured hands and feet.
Pillar box red would be the most popular choice to match our Breton shirts - a firm favourite as it suits everyone, and with hands and feet prepped and primed, you really are ready to soak up the rays…fingers crossed the sun comes out!
Until next time...
