Twinning is Winning: Would you match your outfit to your child's?

Twinning: the cutest fashion statement on the planet. Playing matchy-matchy with your little-ones’ wardrobes is all the rage among celebrities and fashion bloggers alike, and with good reason. Style isn’t just for us adults!

We absolutely love this fashion for pairing similar outfits with your kids', and we’ve especially loved seeing — you’ve guessed it — super-stylish twin-style outfits featuring Breton stripes. Because stripes are fashionable in all situations. We keep telling you this.

Here are our favourite ways to match your Breton top with perfect outfits that your little ones can wear with you. Because who doesn’t want to be the most fashionable family in the world?

Try a Breton Jumper

When the weather’s chilly, you want to make sure you’re all wrapped up nice and warm. Enter the always-on-point Breton striped jumper. It’s got all the best parts of a long-sleeved top, but it’s warmer and you won’t be hiding it with a cardigan or sweater!

There are so many striped jumpers out there for little ones too. Instead of heading to your usual favourite children’s clothes shops, take a look in the kid’s sections of department stores. We’ve seen some outrageously stylish mini-clothes this season, and as always, stripes are everywhere.

Pair this classic twinning look with a pair of sturdy boots or wellies and a blustery walk on the beach, a stroll in the park or a day at the zoo.

Stripes and Skirts

High street clothes shops are really going all in on children’s wear this season. Twinning has well and truly taken off, and you’ll find most places do adorable miniature versions of your favourite outfits.

Our favourite cold weather classic is a Breton shirt with a denim skirt, dark tights and boots. This is by far the easiest outfit to twin with — choose a pleated denim skirt for your little one if you want to keep it cute, and some woolly tights to keep them cosy. Instant chic, easily done.

We also love a kilt. Clashy-clashy loves matchy-matchy, so find a tartan you love and bring the high-fashion trend for clashing patterns to your high street with a Breton shirt each, and sling a leather jacket over for a bit of edge. Very chic, darling.

 Twinning Parisian Style

How do Parisians wear their Breton shirts? With style. Pair your stripes with tailored trousers and chic flats for an instant boost of understated flair. It can be hard to get small children to keep cleanly-pressed tailoring pain au chocolate crumb-free though, so instead of the tailoring, how about taking it easy with matching pairs of stretchy skinny jeans?

Women in Paris wear skinny jeans all the time, to lunch, to brunch, even to work, and if you’re accessorising with a smart coat and some oversized sunglasses, so much the better. We also have to say that children in big sunglasses are always a hit with us. So cute.

So what do you say? Would you twin with your kids? Or are your outfits yours and yours alone?
